Cookies & storage

The site stores a temporary journey draft in session storage for the current browser tab. It may contain the route, chosen vehicle and traveler details entered during the journey. The application treats the draft as expired after one hour. This is not a confirmed booking record.

When you choose a language, the site saves your selection in the essential sixt_go_locale cookie for up to one year. The cookie is protected from page-script access and uses SameSite=Lax safeguards. You can change the language at any time using the menu. Clearing this cookie removes the saved preference; it does not delete a submitted transfer request.

On your first visit without a saved preference, the site uses your browser’s preferred language. If no supported browser language is available, an approximate country lookup may help select one. The lookup runs on this server. Your IP address is not sent to a separate geolocation service or retained by the language detector, and the lookup does not identify your precise location.

The font is served from this website. The current implementation does not add advertising pixels or analytics trackers. Hosting infrastructure may maintain security and operational logs. If optional tracking is introduced later, the notice and applicable consent controls must be updated before it is enabled.

Closing the browser tab removes its session storage. You can clear the language cookie and other site data in your browser settings. Clearing a draft or language preference does not cancel a separately submitted request stored on the server. Restricting essential storage may prevent the journey draft from carrying between pages or stop your language choice being remembered.

Links to travel brands open websites with their own cookies and policies. Their tracking choices do not form part of this site’s settings. Read the relevant external notice before using those services.

Use the language selector whenever you prefer another version of the site. An unsent journey or request can be carried through that language change in temporary storage within the same browser tab. The saved snapshot expires after one hour and is consumed when the form is restored. The request terms checkbox is cleared so you can review the conditions again in the selected language before submitting.
